Bio
Bad Machine is a queer, disabled, and non-binary loop musician, comedian, TV writer, screen/voice actor, and clown. They are weird. Their live performances are unhinged, unexpected, and entirely improvised. If you come to a show, you can ask them to make music about anything, and they’ll do it for you from scratch. Their unique brand of groove-forward electro-funk unites hip-hop, jazz, house, bossa nova, soul, video game soundtracks, and more under one fly umbrella. With tracks ‘as offbeat as they are in the pocket,’ their musical catalogue is a wellspring of digital sounds played with distinctly analog feel. Their new album MORE! is now streaming everywhere. Also, they do a bunch of other things. Here they are. They’re the host of Amazon Prime’s E-Game On, the voice of The Squeaky Wheel, an alumnus of the Second City Toronto, and a performer in the IPF series Petra PI. They’re an editor for Queer Toronto literary magazine, and are a writer for Saloon Media’s History by the Numbers, and on the upcoming series GLAM and Confession Queens. They’ve also written for games, journals, news, and The Beaverton. They voice a host of strange animated characters, and have appeared in a bevy of films, tv shows, web series, commercials, and comedy sketches. Still, most of their free time is spent improvising music for people and hanging out with a German Shepherd named Beans. Check if it’s cap at badmachine.ca.
